Ed Sheeran Says Lies Underpin Latest ‘Let’s Get It On’ Lawsuit

Ed Sheeran said the latest infringement lawsuit alleging his hit “Thinking Out Loud” rips off Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On” relies on misrepresentation by a partial rights owner in a new copyright registration on Gaye’s 1973 song.

Structured Asset Sales LLC owns just 11.1% of the rights to “Let’s Get It On” and didn’t have other rightsholder’s authorization to secure registration in May, Sheeran’s Friday motion to dismiss in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York said.
