The U.S. Copyright Office is laying out a proposed rule under which law students at accredited clinics would be able to represent parties before a copyright small claims tribunal.
The office is proposing eligibility requirements for law students appearing before the Copyright Claims Board, which it is set to start in 2022. The office would also create standards for the law students’ practice in the proceedings and a public director of clinics that will accept clients, according to a notice of proposed rulemaking that will be published Thursday in the Federal Register.
