The U.S. Copyright Office set final rules for how how entities can designate agents to receive claims and how libraries can preemptively opt out of a new small claims board.
The agency has been crafting rules governing the Copyright Claims Board since legislation creating it became law in late 2020. The board, designed as a streamlined, affordable way for creators to enforce their rights, is scheduled to begin hearing cases in June.
