Some challenged claims of Fortinet Inc.'s patent that relates to providing various endpoint security management features based on information regarding the network environment of a client device are unpatentable as obvious over prior art, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board found, in an inter partes review brought by Forescout Technologies Inc. The board determined that some of the challenged claims are obvious over prior art that relates to the field of mobile technology and more particularly, to systems and techniques that relate to network connections.
