Anela’s Jewelry and Anela’s Jade’s motions for a temporary restraining order and an order seizing Opahaus Trading Inc.'s allegedly copyright-infringing merchandise and related documents were denied by a federal district court in Hawaii. The court determined that although the companies may have valid copyright claims, their allegation regarding COVID-19 and the imagined secret disposing of evidence by Opahaus Trading are insufficient to excuse notice and to proceed ex parte, and that nothing in the motions persuaded the court that, absent a TRO, the companies would suffer irreparable injury.
