A federal district court in Illinois granted in part and denied in part Trax Records Inc.'s motion to dismiss this copyright infringement action filed by two composers and recording artists. The composers, who claim that their compositions were assigned or licensed, sued Trax Records, Precision/Trax Records, and several individuals for fraud on the copyright office, willful direct copyright infringement of the compositions, contributory copyright infringement, breach of contract, breach of the warranty of good faith and fair dealing, unjust enrichment, constructive trust, and violations of the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Trade Practice Act.
