A federal district court in Pennsylvania determined that it doesn’t have personal jurisdiction over a songwriter’s copyright infringement action against Atlantic Recording Corporation and others. The songwriter claimed that several musical compositions that he jointly created with Missy Elliott were copied without his authorization. The record companies are incorporated in Delaware and have their principal place of business in New York, so the court found that it lacks general jurisdiction.
