A patent that KCG Technologies LLC claims CarMax Auto Superstores Inc. infringed is invalid because it covered an abstract idea, a federal district court in Massachusetts rules. KCG Technologies brought suit based on its mounted touchscreen that emulates a smartphone interface to give the driver a simple way of using his or her phone or other handheld device while driving.
