CardioNet’s Cardiac Monitoring Patent Shot Through the Heart

CardioNet LLC’s cardiac monitoring system patent is invalid because it didn’t claim an inventive concept, a federal court said.

The patent at the center of the case, U.S. Patent No. 7,941,207, claimed systems and techniques for monitoring cardiac activity. CardioNet alleged InfoBionic’s first- and second-generation cardiac monitoring systems, MoMe Kardia Systems, infringed the patent. But the patent couldn’t be infringed because it was invalid in the first place, Judge Indira Talwani of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts said.
