Video game pioneer Atari Interactive Inc. has dropped its lawsuit against two companies accused of infringing Atari trademarks by selling retro joysticks, according to court records.
Atari sued Innex Inc. and Kool Brands LLC in January, saying the two companies partnered up to create a “Retro-bit” joystick controller that infringes the “ornamental design and iconic trade dress” of its Atari 2600 joystick. Atari previously settled similar claims against Hyperkin Inc., but the court in that case declined to determine whether the joystick design was entitled to trade dress protection.
