Facebook Inc. has failed to take action against an Instagram account promoting “Hoax-19" parties on Arizona State University’s campus, which the university believes may be a Russian attempt to “sow confusion and conflict” and worsen the pandemic there, according to a complaint filed in Arizona federal court.
The Arizona Board of Regents sued the anonymous account owner and Facebook in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona for misusing the university’s trademarks.
