Apple Victory Over Wisconsin University Will Stand, Court Says

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit said Jan. 7 it wouldn’t reconsider its September ruling that cleared Apple of a claim it infringed a University of Wisconsin-Madison patent for a way computer processors execute instructions.

The Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, the school’s licensing arm, had asked that the case be reconsidered by the original three-judge panel or be heard before all active judges of the court.

The rejection means Apple is in the clear from a $234 million jury verdict that had swelled to more than $500 million, unless it’s successfully appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court....
