Amazon Settles as Tin Pan Alley Copyright Lawsuits Wind Down

Heirs to three Tin Pan Alley songwriters have settled their copyright suit against Amazon.com Inc. in a Seattle federal court..

Heirs to songwriters Harold Arlen, Harry Warren and Ray Henderson sued Amazon, along with Apple Inc., Google LLC and Microsoft Corp. in the last two years in multiple states for streaming hundreds of songs. Amazon’s agreement leaves Apple as the only defendant facing an active lawsuit.

The nature of the settlements, including one with Google that remains tentative, are not public. Attorneys for Amazon and the plaintiffs didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment. The songs include “Life ...
