Amazon Not Required for PTAB Challenge, Federal Circuit Says

The Patent Trial and Appeal Board correctly held that Amazon.com Inc. wasn’t a necessary party to a patent challenge involving users of Amazon Web Services technology, the Federal Circuit said in an opinion unsealed Tuesday.

Amazon’s relationship to the parties in interest and participation in related patent proceedings didn’t require the patent challengers to include it in the PTAB case, the court said Dec. 23.
