Albright Eyes Intel Patent Trial Move to Waco if Austin Closed

U.S. District Judge Alan Albright said he will ship a patent case against Intel Corp. back to Waco, Texas, if the federal courthouse in Austin isn’t open in time for a January trial.

Albright said holding the jury trial in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas’ Waco division, where VLSI Technology LLC originally filed, was a “reasonable response” if the Austin courthouse was unavailable for the trial.

Access to the Austin courthouse has been severely restricted for months during the coronavirus pandemic, and no trials are being conducted there. Courts around the country have been grappling...
