The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office should give trademark holders more time to respond to actions in the face of cancellations, the American Bar Association and other groups say in comments on regulations to implement a new trademark law.
The PTO requested comments on its proposal for implementing the Trademark Modernization Act, a law aimed at providing a faster, more efficient, and cheaper path for canceling marks never used in commerce.
The proposal brings the agency a step closer to applying the law, which was enacted in December. The comment period ended Monday.
