The U.S. Trade Representative’s negotiations with Japan and the European Union may be delayed if the partial government shutdown continues, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley said to reporters.
The European Commission recently said it has begun work on a draft mandate for a trans-Atlantic accord to cut duties on industrial goods.
The U.S. government is in Day 26 of a partial shutdown. The Commerce Department is one of the agencies affected by the funding impasse.
