Liberty Mutual Owes Call Center Workers Unpaid Wages, Suit Says

Liberty Mutual Group Inc. failed to pay hourly call center agents for necessary pre-and mid-shift off-the-clock tasks, a new suit alleges in federal court in Massachusetts.

The insurance company required call center agents to be “phone ready” before the start of their scheduled shifts, but the workers only clocked in after they finished booting up their computers and logging into their phones and “numerous software programs,” according to the complaint filed in the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

Liberty Mutual allegedly required the same type of off-the-clock work from agents before they returned from mid-shift meal breaks. ...
