Geico Approved to Pay $6.2 Million Settlement of Sales Tax Suit

A California federal court approved a $6.2 million settlement Geico General Insurance Co. reached with consumers alleging the auto insurer failed to reimburse sales tax and regulatory fees of covered cars.

“The Court finds that the settlement amount falls ‘within the range of reasonableness’ in light of the risks and costs of litigation,” said Judge Haywood Gilliam of the US District for the Northern District of California in a Wednesday ruling.
