Wyoming Lawmakers Opt to Study, But Not Expand, Medicaid

The Wyoming House scuttled a Medicaid expansion bill on the same day the state Senate decided to spend $260,000 to further study the idea.

The demise of the 2019 bill (H.B. 244) marked the latest failure in six years of attempts to get a Medicaid expansion through the Wyoming Legislature. This year lawmakers said they were motivated in part by the prospect of a citizens’ initiative to expand the state’s program under the Affordable Care Act should they fail to act.
