The fate of two Virginia laws restricting who can perform abortions and where second-trimester procedures can take place may be decided by a Richmond federal court shortly.

The first law prohibits anyone other than a licensed physician from performing an abortion. The second requires all second-trimester abortions to take place in licensed hospitals or surgical centers.
