Trump, GOP Move Quickly on Abortion Funding Bans

Conservative lawmakers are moving quickly this week to reinstate long-standing bans on using federal funds for abortion services.

The House is expected to vote on a bill Jan. 24 that would codify a 30-year-old ban on using federal funds for abortion services and push private insurers to stop covering abortions. President Donald Trump Jan. 23 issued an executive order that prohibits nongovernmental organizations from using federal money to perform or promote abortion services.
