Thousands More Would Get Health Insurance Under Connecticut Plan

Connecticut would offer subsidies to low-income adults with and without dependent children to encourage them to purchase health insurance under a bill headed to Gov. Ned Lamont (D).

The Covered Connecticut program, which would newly insure up to 48,000 adults whose incomes are too high to qualify for Medicaid benefits, was sought by Lamont. S.B. 1202, an 837-page budget bill with the health language included in it, was approved by both chambers Thursday in a special session. The House passed the bill 89 to 50, and the Senate approved it 20 to 6.
