Tale of Two Health-Fraud Sentences: 25 vs. 3 Years

A Houston doctor and a medical clinic owner face prison sentences of 25 and 30 years and must repay over $20 million to Medicare for selling phony patient referrals to home-health agencies.

The Justice Department announced the sentences alongside a three-year prison sentence for another Houston doctor involved in a similar, smaller scheme — but who notably had reached a guilty plea agreement.
