Sysmex Sues Danaher for Patent Royalties on Blood Analyzers

Sysmex said blood-sample analyzers sold by Danaher’s Beckman Coulter unit infringe two patents for the technology.

  • Sysmex is seeking cash compensation including lost profits and a reasonable royalty, and a court order blocking further unauthorized use of its inventions, according to complaint filed Sept. 3 in federal court in Wilmington, Delaware
  • Targets include some of the UniCel DxH line of hematology analyzer systems, complaint says; systems include multiple detectors and also can analyze body fluids including cerebrospinal, thoracic, abdominal and others
  • Patents were granted Sept. 3
