Senators Urge White House to Allow Drug Imports From Canada

The White House Office of Management and Budget should use existing executive authority to bring down prescription drug costs, a bipartisan group of senators said May 15.

Sens. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) said in a letter to OMB Director Mick Mulvaney that he should use his authority to, among other things, allow prescription drugs to be imported from Canada.

The letter comes as drugmakers remain under heavy scrutiny for their pricing practices, and lawmakers are looking for ways to lower the high cost of prescription drugs.
