Rural Hospitals, Doctors Get HHS Assist in New Payment System (1)

Rural communities could receive up to $5 million in investments from the Trump administration to redesign their health-care systems as part of a program to test different ways of paying doctors and facilities based on patients’ overall health.

The program announced Tuesday is voluntary for providers and will offer participating rural communities much-needed consistent resources that could improve access to care.

Rural communities could alternatively enter a program in which groups of doctors, hospitals, and providers coordinate care for patients and get financially rewarded for saving taxpayers money by keeping their clients healthy. That option comes with a $200,000 one-time ...
