Rite Aid Runs Out of Federal Funds for Covid-19 Testing Sites

Rite Aid Corp. ran out of federal funding for its Covid-19 testing sites, and more money has yet to be approved as testing lines across the country are increasing due to Thanksgiving.

Rite Aid notified the Department of Health and Human Services Nov. 21 that it “completed more tests than funding had been allocated for in their contract,” spokeswoman Mia Heck told Bloomberg Law. The HHS said it requested additional funding from the Office of Management and Budget to continue Rite Aid’s no-cost testing for sites and is waiting for a response.
