Rehab Company Spurred to Adopt Service Animal Policy

Life Care Centers of America Inc. has agreed to adopt a service animal policy for the more than 200 skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers it owns after a patient claimed she was discriminated against for having a service dog, according to federal prosecutors.

The Tennessee-based company agreed to adopt the nationwide policy and pay $12,000 to resolve Americans with Disabilities Act claims involving its Life Care Center of Hickory Woods facility in Antioch, Tenn.
