Psychiatric facilities will get an extra $90 million in Medicare payments for fiscal 2023 under a final rule issued Wednesday by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
The increase would be a 3.8% bump in payment rate, according to the final rule (RIN: 0938-AU80).
Inpatient psychiatric facilities include both psychiatric hospitals for longer-term care, and acute treatment units that are part of general hospitals.
The boost is more than what the Biden administration pitched in a proposed rule.
