Protection Against Covid Aided by Vaccination, Prior Infection

Coronavirus cases and hospitalizations are substantially lower among those who have both been vaccinated and survived a previous infection, according to a study released Wednesday by the New York State Health Department and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The health department and the CDC, in collaboration with researchers from the California Department of Public Health, also found that vaccination or a prior infection separately provided protection against future infection and hospitalization.

Vaccination and staying up-to-date on boosters proved the safest way to prevent future Covid-19 infections and severe outcomes, according to the study.
