Prosecutors Say Indivior Lied About Popular Opioid Treatment (1)

U.S. prosecutors charged Indivior Plc, which makes the popular opioid addiction treatment drug Suboxone Film, with allegedly deceiving health-care providers and programs into prescribing it while downplaying the risk of misuse.

The Justice Department said in a statement that Indivior had misled doctors and government health programs into believing that Suboxone Film was safer and less likely to be abused than the government said it actually is. Federal prosecutors in the Western District of Virginia said the company’s deceptions had contributed to an epidemic that has killed thousands of people across the U.S.
