Pharmacy Rule Barring Retroactive Fees Approaches Finish Line

Individual pharmacies could dodge thousands of dollars in after-the-fact fees from drug intermediaries as part of a final rule under review at the White House.

Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar drew cheers from the National Community Pharmacists Association April 10 when he mentioned the administration’s proposal to ensure the negotiated drug costs are reflected at the point of sale. The final version of the rule was sent to the White House for review last week, which is the last step before publication.
