A bill renewing the nation’s pandemics and weapons of mass destruction response programs heads to the White House amid the largest measles outbreak in nearly two decades.
The House passed the measure June 4 by a voice vote.
The Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness and Advancing Innovation Act of 2019 (PAHPAI) (S. 1379)—sponsored by Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.)—would reauthorize emergency pandemic-prevention programs in the Department of Health and Human Services, including some that could provide resources to help contain the measles outbreak.
