Painting Company Fined Over Employee Exposure to Lead

Scot Christopher Rule LLC faces $104,367 in proposed fines for allegedly exposing workers at an Easton, Pa., work site to lead and other workplace hazards during renovations and remodeling.

The Frenchtown, N.J.-based painting and wall-covering contractor was cited for one serious and four willful violations, including allegations of failing to conduct an initial determination to identify employee levels of exposure to lead.

As workers manually scraped lead paint from the ceiling and beams at the work site around Feb. 5, “the employer did not make an initial determination of the employees exposure to lead,” according to the citation.
