Dallas-headquartered Essilor International, Essilor of America Inc., Essilor Laboratories of America Inc., and Essilor Instruments USA have agreed to pay $16.4 million to resolve allegations that the companies caused false claims to be submitted to Medicare and Medicaid through violating the Anti-Kickback Statute, the DOJ said Tuesday.
Essilor allegedly knowingly and willfully offered or paid remuneration to eye care providers between Jan. 1, 2011, and Dec. 31, 2016, to encourage those providers to order and purchase Essilor products for their patients, the Justice Department said.
