Nursing Homes Get Go-Ahead to Resume Visitation With Caution (1)

The federal government has given nursing homes the OK to resume indoor, in-person visitation for all residents, a privilege that has been largely prohibited since the Covid-19 pandemic first struck in March 2020.

The guidance, issued Wednesday by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, calls for on-site visitation at all times, for all residents regardless of the visitor and resident’s Covid-19 vaccination status.

The guidance comes as nursing homes report that Covid-19 infections have fallen 82% among residents and 78% among staff since December, thanks to the mass vaccination effort that targeted the more than 15,000 nursing homes ...
