NIH Sets $36 Million For ‘Pan-Coronavirus’ Vaccine Research

Coronavirus vaccine research and development is getting a $36.3 million dollar investment surge from the Biden administration, with funds going to three academic institutions to focus primarily on creating a jab that protects against multiple strains.

The funds, from the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, add to the $1.2 billion NIAID has already directed to research into coronavirus vaccines since the onslaught of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Among NIH’s goals is creating “multivalent vaccine platforms and strategies suitable for use in vulnerable populations and to understand vaccine-induced responses and efficacy related to a person’s age ...
