New Jersey Governor Wants Changes to Drug-Price Transparency Bill

A New Jersey bill to create a state-run website on prescription drug prices is headed back to lawmakers after the governor expressed concern over the agency designated to run the site.

The bill, S. 2389, would make the State Board of Pharmacy responsible for creating and maintaining the website, even though the Division of Consumer Affairs has more than a decade of experience providing similar drug-price information to consumers, Gov. Phil Murphy (D) said in a Jan. 9 statement announcing his conditional veto of the measure.
