A federal judge in Washington blocked a Trump administration rule that prevents taxpayer-funded clinics from referring pregnant women to abortion providers.
Judge Stanley Bastian, of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington, issued a nationwide preliminary injunction from the bench on April 25 to stop the rule from taking effect on May 3, according to the National Family Planning & Reproductive Health Association, which brought one of the two consolidated cases challenging the rule.
