A Missouri law restricting abortions based on a fetal diagnosis of Down syndrome may not take effect while a lawsuit to determine its validity is pending, a district court in Missouri said Sept. 27.
The U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri modified a previous order in which it barred the state from enforcing gestational age limits on abortion, but allowed the ban on “discriminatory” abortions to go into effect based on a lack of evidence over how many procedures it would affect.
