Minnesota Poised to Pass Elder-Abuse Protections

Consumers would be allowed to plant “granny cams” at Minnesota nursing homes to detect elder neglect and abuse under proposed laws being hashed out among political parties, state agencies, and elderly-care facilities.

The Minnesota Senate Family Care and Aging Committee is working on the bills to address deficiencies revealed in a highly critical March 2018 report asserting a state Department of Health unit was not meeting its obligations to protect vulnerable elder adults and was slow to investigate complaints.
