Minnesota AG Takes Aim at Big Pharma Over Drug Pricing

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison attacked “skyrocketing prescription drug costs” Feb. 21, forming a citizen task force to study the problem and threatening litigation in cases where drug makers gouge consumers.

In one of his first major initiatives since taking office last month, Ellison announced a multi-pronged approach designed to protect consumers from irrational pharmaceutical pricing patterns. Ellison said his first step was to form a Prescription Drug Task Force to review the issue and make recommendations for action. Those recommendations will eventually be translated into action in the Legislature and in state and federal courthouses.
