Home-health agencies and nonemergency ambulance providers won’t be able to enroll in Medicare in six states due to elevated fraud and abuse risks.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services July 30 extended temporary enrollment moratoria for six months, covering Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Texas, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. The renewal was based on consultations with local law enforcement that turned up persistently high levels of fraud and abuse in the six states.
