Medicare Hospice Pay Proposal Clears White House for HHS Release

The White House has finished its review of a proposed rule to update Medicare’s hospice payment rates and the wage index for fiscal year 2022, meaning the proposal could be released at any time.

The proposal (RIN 0938-AU41) also include changes to the Hospice Quality Reporting program, which requires hospices to report a variety of care metrics to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) has recommended no increases for hospices in recent years, but they have seen marginal bumps anyway.
