An effort by Republicans in the Missouri House to scuttle Medicaid expansion appears destined to fail, and the deliverers of their defeat could well be members of their own party in the Senate.

House Republicans approved a budget April 1 that didn’t include any funds for Medicaid expansion, but Sen. Lincoln Hough, the Republican vice-chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, says he’ll be working to restore the funding in the Senate’s version of the budget.
