Judge Zahid N. Quraishi declined to disqualify himself Monday from a case challenging Rutgers University’s Covid-19 vaccine mandate, saying his affiliation with its law school and adherence to a masking policy doesn’t raise questions about his impartiality.
A “reasonable person, with knowledge of all the facts, would not conclude” that Quraishi’s ability to judge the case fairly could reasonably be questioned just because he followed Covid protocols while teaching there during the pandemic, the judge on the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey said.
