Maine Moves Closer to Importing Prescription Drugs From Canada

A Maine bill to import prescription drugs from Canada as a way to cut prices is on its way to the governor’s desk.

Maine lawmakers approved the bill (L.D. 1272) June 18. It would allow for the wholesale importation of prescription drugs from Canada, which lawmakers believe will slash prices on some prescription drugs to the benefit of consumers.

If Gov. Janet Mills (D) signs the measure, the state will still have to win approval from the federal Department of Health and Human Services. President Donald Trump has indicated he generally supports the idea, Maine Senate President Troy Jackson (D)...
