Litigation Likely Over Idaho Medicaid Work Requirements

Idaho activists who won Medicaid expansion at the ballot box in November are preparing to file a lawsuit over mandatory work requirements they fear will result in thousands of otherwise eligible recipients being tossed off newly expanded Medicaid rolls.

The state projects about 91,000 Idahoans will apply under the new Medicaid rules, which expand eligibility Jan. 1 to people living in the gap: those currently making too much money to qualify for Medicaid and too little to get subsidies on the state’s Obamacare exchange. Idahoans making between 100% and 138% of the federal poverty level will qualify under the expansion....
