Kentucky Readies for Medicaid Work Requirement Reboot

Kentucky appears to be gearing up to restart its work requirement program and is providing new responses to criticism that hint at a defense in a pending legal challenge, critics say.

State regulators released a series of responses Sept. 28 to the more than 11,000 comments on the state’s second attempt at approval for its 80-hours-per-month work requirement application. At an August meeting, a state Medicaid official said Kentucky intends to restart its work requirement program Jan. 1, 2019, pending approval by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
